Thames Water Reservoir Proposal

Thames Water are proposing a major new infrastructure project near Abingdon to provide a reservoir.

The project will have a major effect on restoration of the canal as the proposal would be built over a large section of the historic canal route.

The Trust policy on the reservoir is that it has no comment to make on the need for the proposed reservoir but the Trust and Branch have been working with the designers of the scheme to provide an alternative route for the canal, and are are asking that as much of the canal as possible will be built as part of the scheme if it is approved, It was announced in early 2009 that the project start will now be delayed for five years.
